A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
According to TMZ, Harrison Ford just raised $191,000 USD for charity by auctioning off the black leather jacket that he wore in the 2015 blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The custom-made bomber was sold through the online auction site IfOnly for $191,000, with all proceeds benefiting the NYU Langone Medical Center and the FACES foundation; the later organization has been dedicated to finding a cure for epilepsy, a disorder that Ford’s 25-year-old daughter has been battling.
“We are incredibly appreciative of Harrison Ford’s and Lucasfilm’s generosity to support the FACES research and clinical epilepsy programs at NYU Langone Medical Center,” Dr. Orrin Devinsky said in a statement. “A phenomenal success!”
The jacket was also autographed by the actor and came with a certificate of authenticity provided by Lucas Films.
More than 50 people bid on Han Solo’s iconic leather jacket, which started at $15,000 and culminated in “a nail-biting finish,” IfOnly said.
