Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox made a surprise return to the infamous Friends kitchen on Wednesday night, thanks to Jimmy Kimmel.
The mini-Friends reunion occurred after Aniston’s guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her new movie Life of Crime. As he drew the interview to a close Kimmel confided to Aniston that he was a big Friends fan back in the day.
“In the ‘90s I was a big fan of the show ‘Friends’ and I loved the show so much I actually wrote some fan fiction,” Kimmel said. “You use the characters and work yourself into it as a character, in this case as Ross. I was just wondering if you would do a scene from it with me?”
A reluctant Aniston was then taken by Kimmel to a spot-on recreation of Monica’s kitchen. “I actually spent $80,000 making it,” the host joked before handing her a script. After refusing to wear a Rachel wig (“I’ve got boundaries,” Aniston joked), she grudgingly agreed to read lines and the duo were joined on Kimmel’s fake set by former co-stars Cox and Kudrow.

The mini-reunion is said to be tied to next month’s 20th anniversary of the NBC show’s premiere. To further commemorate the occasion, a replica of the show’s Central Perk coffee shop will pop up in Manhattan in September, serving free coffee and featuring appearances from James Michael Tyler — who played Central Perk’s long-suffering barista, Gunther — and photo opportunities with the iconic “Friends” couch.
