News anchor Leslie Roberts has been suspended indefinitely while Global Television conducts an investigation on a possible conflict-of-interest.
The Toronto Star published a report exposing Roberts as part owner of Buzz PR, a public relations company based in Toronto. The article noted that on several occasions clients of Buzz PR have appeared on various Global New programs.
A statement from Global said that they take “matters of journalistic integrity very seriously. Mr. Roberts has been suspended from his duties indefinitely as we conduct a full investigation into this matter.”
Roberts told The Star that he has never accepted money from any of his clients for their appearances on Global News. However, he does admit that it doesn’t look good.
Roberts has worked as the evening news anchor since 2001, co-anchors the Morning Show, and is also the executive editor for Global News.
