It was shrouded in mystery for two whole years, but audiences worldwide are finally getting their first official look at the hotly anticipated Jurassic World sequel. Armed with the ominous subtitle, Fallen Kingdom, the new addition to the epic ongoing saga looks to be filled with explosive action, dramatic thrill rides, and even a batch of new dinosaur villains.
Of course, the finer plot points of Fallen Kingdom remain under wraps, but we do know that it’ll once again involve franchise hero Owen Grady, (Chris Pratt) and former Jurassic World park manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard). Another returning face is B.D. Wong who will reprise his role as lab scientist Dr. Henry Wu. Hollywood veteran, James Cromwell, and The Get Down‘s Justice Smith will also find themselves in the mix.
Judging from the awesome new trailer, it looks like Owen and Claire will return to the scene of the previous adventure in order to save the park’s prehistoric inhabitants from volcanic destruction. Naturally, the trip is set up for disaster and both characters will come face-to-face with some dinosaur-sized challenges.
Fallen Kingdom is being directed by Spanish filmmaker, J. A. Bayona, with script duties going to Derek Connolly and Jurassic World scribe, Colin Trevorrow. Bayona is a relative newcomer to the industry, but found recent success helming critically acclaimed movies like, The Orphanage and The Impossible—the latter project garnered both Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for its lead actors.
