CGI has come a long way since the blocky mess it once was. While companies like Weta Workshop and Pixar have mastered the art and brought it to an incredible new level, the technique still gets a lot of flack from detractors. We can understand the hate, too. Often times, it’ll stick out like a sore thumb, and when it does, it makes a viewing experience less than pleasurable. Just this week, The Verge released an article detailing how practical effects are due to, once again, take over the industry.
Youtube channel RocketJump, however, has no problem with CGI, and makes a pretty convincing case for it all. While we love practical effects, and while they do add a type of texture still unreplicated, when done well, CGI is as important and efficient as ever.
