Bryan Cranston Would Love To Play Walter White Again In ‘Breaking Bad’ Spinoff

Last November, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan revealed that he’s working on a feature-length movie based upon the hit TV show.

This movie isn’t expected to focus on Walter White, the main character of Breaking Bad. Instead, much like the popular spinoff Better Call Saul, it’s expected to focus on other characters in the show’s universe.

If Walter White is written into this new film, however, actor Bryan Cranston says he’d leap at the chance to play the meth-cooking antihero again.

“From a realistic standpoint, if I got called to do the movie or Better Call Saul, which I don’t know would ever happen—I really don’t—I would do it in a second,” Cranston said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio (transcript via Maxim).

“Because you know,” he continued, “my experience on Breaking Bad changed my life and my professional life. It gave me opportunities that would not have come.”

“I would go in a second.”

While Cranston would love to play Walter White again in a Breaking Bad spinoff, he says he has no interest in a revival of the original show. He feels it ended perfectly, and wouldn’t want to risk ruining that.

“I wouldn’t do it because it had—to me—it was such a perfect beginning, middle and end,” he said.

Breaking Bad ran on AMC from January 2009 through to September 2013, and is one of the most popular shows in television history. Cranston won multiple Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Walter White.

Production for Vince Gilligan’s Breaking Bad spinoff has already begun, though the film likely won’t be released for some time.
