This month? We try out Calvin Klein, CK Everyone EDT
Almost 30 years ago, (26 to be exact), Calvin Klein’s ground-breaking unisex fragrance CK One first hit the streets, an ultra cool, fresh and hip version of the deep and emotive parfums that dominated the brand and the ’80s. Its citrus aromatic blend was intended for anyone and everyone, and represented by then “it” models Kate Moss and Jenny Shimize and a crotch-grabbing Marky-Mark.
CK One inspired a new generation of thirty somethings who spritzed with abandon as a means of self-expression and non-conformity. The instant cult unisex scent was rumoured to sell 20 bottles every 20 seconds during the ’90s and its youthful woody lemon allure can still be inhaled today. In particular, wafts of One’s DNA have been re-energized into the new CK Everyone.
Like it’s OG, this latest fragrance symbolizes the spirit of the new generation, their need for purpose, understanding and self-identification. “It’s a gender-free fragrance that is a tribute to individuality and the freedom of self-expression,” affirms Joanne Bletz, the senior vice president of Calvin Klein Fragrances in New York City. “The name conveys that the fragrance is unconstrained by boundaries, gender norms and definitions. It also conveys that we and society, should embrace every different facet of each person, allowing individuals to proclaim, ‘Love EVERYONE of Me!’”
Drawing on these sentiments, the juice is fresh and unassuming, opening with a zesty blend of organic orange essential oil and ginger. Light and crisp blue tea accord with watery notes soon flow in followed by earthy cedar wood, warm amber and spicy patchouli. The overall effect is clean, compelling and intimate. It’s also vegan, made from naturally occurring alcohol and overflowing in 79 per cent natural ingredients. And not unlike the past two decades of iterations of the signature scent—from liquid sunshine summer editions and spicy fruity elixirs captured in graffiti covered bottles to clear flaçons dripping in gold—it’sglass bottle is also recyclable.
But just like the perfume house’s all-American vibe, at once modern and timeless, the original spirited eau remains as fresh as the day it was born. So it only makes sense the brand is now welcoming CK Everyone into the coveted fold.
Calvin Klein CK Everyone EDT is $65 for 50 ml and $95 for 75 ml,available at Hudson Bay stores across Canada.
