Design collaborations seem to be a dime a dozen these days but there are some notable capsule collections that stand out. Successful collaborations bring together the energies of their respective parts to form something new and exciting. And for that we are thankful. Enter the Time Capsule collection from LG Velvet 5G in collaboration with notable Canadian designers: George Sully, Hayley Elsaesser and Beurd Clothing.
Sure this could just be seen as another ploy to market to the hip, young fashion forward streetwear crowd but it is much more than that. The signature line of fashion forward pieces marries design and performance for a on trend fashion experience. I mean when was the last time you could cop a tie dyed sweatsuit with a clear front pocket to hold you phone?
Exactly. Never, until now. The Time Capsule Collection features custom clothing and accessories that marry fashion forward design and mobile technology. The Sully & Son Co. x LG VELVET 5G TECHPAC offers a sleek, battery powered backpack that beads off water to protect your devices. With an external charge port, users can plug in to power the already impressive all-day battery to capture a moment in style.
Reminiscent of 90’s streetstyle, when your device made as much of a statement as your look, Hayley Elsaesser‘s ensemble of vivid prints are a streetwear must have item for fall. Available as a bomber jacket, T-shirt and bucket hat, any one of her signature designs is certain to make a statement on Instagram.
Finally, the aforementioned Beurd‘s multi-colour, tie-dye tracksuit offers up a clear front pocket to show off your smartphone. The design is a nod to retro-looks currently on trend this season.
Moreover, to unveil the Time Capsule Collection, LG will offer up on more collaboration with a notable Canadian: artist Sean Leon. The virtual celebration event, live at 4pm via LG’s Instagram Channel on September 23, will also feature each designer offering insights and comments on creating your own iconic look. The virtual celebration will be capped off with special performance by Canadian multi-talented artist and director, Sean Leon. Leon applauded this collaboration between the tech giant and Canadian fashion designers; his favourite piece from the collection is the Sully & Son Co. x LG VELVET 5G TECHPAC. Sean will perform two brand new tracks during the special event.
Of note, for each like or comment a designer receives on their custom clothing and accessories, LG will donate $1 up to $5,000 to a charitable organization of each designer’s choice. We would call this the perfect balance good design with good intentions.
Each item in the Time Capsule Collection is now available for purchase on the designers’ respective website now.
