Homegrown fragrances are rare. So when we find one that smells as incredible as Vancouver’s Untamed’s Salish Sea Eau de Parfum, you know we have to spritz a little on and then, write about it.
Overflowing with possibility and adventure, the first inhalation of Salish Sea feels captivating and expansive. It’s initial aromatic and aquatic nature allures with tangy sea salt, earthy herbs and spicy black pepper notes. Bright and sweet honeysuckle and lily of the valley intermixed with fresh and briny sea spray, seaweed and driftwood waft forward before being absorbed into a zesty, warm and green blend of beach grass, fir balsam, oakmoss and ambergris. The overall effect is layered, refreshing and coastal, and imbues a sense of power juxtaposed with serenity.
It’s fitting too. The Untamed brand, complete with Salish Sea, is inspired by the wild landscapes of Canada’s rugged West Coast. Founded by somatic psychotherapist turned perfumer Sunyata Calogeros-Smith, each handcrafted and innovative unisex scent is infused with adventure travel and colourful cultures, emotions and memories and the limitless realms of music and art. And luckily for us, she’s bottled it up in a clear rectangular-shaped glass flacon capped with a wood-like topper and emblazoned with a crisp white label featuring gold lettering and Untamed’s soaring golden owl logo.
