Looking for new ways to live a healthier, longer life? In the past few years, a new term has emerged in the fight against aging – Biohacking. But what exactly is bio-hacking? And more importantly, will it help keep us feeling young and healthy?
We went to a trusted source Dr. Sanjeev Goel (Canada’s top longevity doctor), to find out more. Dr. Goel is a practicing medical physician and the founder of Peak Human, a practice dedicated to helping his patients live 100x their potential. He believes in a holistic approach to wellness and has done training in Anti-Aging, Integrative and Regenerative Medicine. He advocates a healthy lifestyle centred around plant based diet, focused physical activity and enhancing mental resilience. He believes we all could benefit from bio-hacking.
How would you simply explain bio-hacking?
Biohacking is a practice that involves people learning about their bodies and taking action to improve their health. Usually, it’s based on working on your own body, using feedback and data that you receive from tests, wearable devices, and other information sources. Then, based on that data, you implement changes and see what effect they have.
And why do you think people should try biohacking?
People should try biohacking because it gives them power over their bodies and health. Biohacking utilizes the knowledge available to everyone to make changes in your life and optimize your health.
What made you decide to create Peak Human?
I wanted to give people access to the latest cutting-edge technologies that I would want for my own health. I believe we need healthcare options based on the latest medical science and innovations.
What does your biologic test measure?
Your biologic test measures the age of various aspects of your body. We have a chronological age, but there are different ages of your epigenome, plasma, proteins, or tissues and cells. Biologic age is tied to different health outcomes, including chronic disease and death. The lower your biologic age, the lower your body actually is.
And how do we reverse that aging?
Currently, there is no proven way to reverse aging, but there are some interesting therapies that have old promise in this area. Plasma therapy, which involves exchanging your plasma and replacing it with saline or younger plasma, has shown a reduction in biological age. A recent study showed that regular hyperbaric treatment resulted in the lengthening of telemeters, which is a proxy for reducing biologic age.
Your book outlines 10 important bio-hacks, but if our readers wanted to start with just one, which one should they choose?
Some hacks are easier to do than others. Something simple like wearing a wearable like an Oura Ring to track your sleep and HRV has several benefits. It helps you start understanding the relationship between your daily habits and their impact on your circadian rhythm, sleep, and stress levels.
Another one that I like is a supplement called vitamin K2 seven, which has been shown to have health benefits for the cardiovascular system. This vitamin is mostly found in fermented foods, and thus, many people probably do not get the optimal dosage in their diets.
Dr Sanjeev Goel’s latest edition of his book, Top 10 Peak Human Bio Hacks of 2025, is currently available for preorder if you would like to learn more about health, wellness, and longevity.
