Some key injuries, interceptions and WTF’s-up-with-Incognito?! Whatever the case, our on-staff NFL analyst and sports bettor Jeff Bjarnarson presents three teams to lock down, and three games to leave alone in NFL’s Week 10 of the 2013 Season.
Lock’em
Let’s take a moment to right some wrong’s by putting the New Orleans Saints back on the Lock side where they belong. Now, while it was smart last week to leave that game, this week the Saints take on the Dallas Cowboys (5-4) at home in Mercedes-Benz Superdome. New Orleans is 5-2 in its last 7 games when playing at home against Dallas. We see Romo’s voice getting lost in the roar of the Superdome come Sunday. “Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?” (Probably that mouthy Dez Bryant guy… sorry Dez.)
Call it revenge, call it smart, call it whatever you want – AmongMen is putting the Raiders back where they belong: Lock the Giants down to beat the Raiders at home on Sunday. This one’s easy – Oakland is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games on the road, NY Giants are 7-3 in their last 10 games at home, and the Raider’s Defense allowed Nick Foles (who?) to score an NFL-high 7 touchdown’s last weekend. (Am I the only person who DIDN’T catch a touchdown pass from Foles on Sunday?)
Finally, let’s wrap up this Pey-day, with Peyton Manning and his Bronco’s (7-1) heading to San Diego (4-4). Let’s make this as quick as possible: Denver’s Overall Scoring (1st) vs San Diego’s Overall Defense (11th), Denver’s Road Rushing Defense (1st) vs San Diego’s Home Rushing (18th), oh, and have I mentioned Peyton Manning? Lock down the Bronco’s at Qualcomm Stadium (…you might as well lock in the OVER too).
Leave’em
Speaking of switching sides, stay away from the Seahawks (8-1) visiting the Falcons (2-6) this weekend. Seattle just loves to keep things interesting, coming back from 21-0 at the half, to beat the Buccaneer’s by a field goal. Add that to the fact that Seattle is 1-4 in its last 5 games when playing Atlanta (way back in 2005) and you’ve got the makings of a trap game. We’re not saying Atlanta is good, we’re just saying Seattle might not be able to dig themselves all the way out of whatever hole they find themselves in at halftime, come Sunday.
Speaking of Foles earlier, Philley travels to Lambeau Field to take on Rodg… I mean, Seneca Wallace? That’s right, elite QB, Aaron Rodgers was sidelined with a collarbone fracture after Monday night’s loss to Da Bears and Wallace has some big shoes to fill. Normally, I’d keep my money on whoever was playing the Eagles, but Foles has shown some impressive skills. I think Philley takes the W, but we’re going to leave this game in the Leave’em category. It’s anyone’s game at this point.
Last, but not least, AmongMen urges you to leave the Panthers / 49’ers game at Candlestick Park. Sure San Fran is a 6 pt. favourite… sure it looks like Kaepernick is back after a brief early-season hiatus, where I guess he forgot how to play centre after his Superbowl run… but San Francisco is 2-7 in its last 9 games when playing Carolina. It’s easy to say Cam Newton and his 5-3 Panthers look good out there. I just don’t trust Kaep… thus we’re leaving this game on the cutting room floor.
Got a lock? Leave it in the comments below. Totally against our predictions? We’d love to hear from you! May you be among the winners this weekend!
