Name: Lea Michele Sarfati
Birthdate: August 29, 1986
Birthplace: The Bronx, New York
Claim to fame: Playing Rachel Barry on the Fox television series Glee.
Where we can find her next: Lea Michele is a busy woman, on top of all her duties for Glee (which is currently airing its fifth season) she has a book she wrote, titled Brunette Ambition that is set to be released by Harmony Books on May 13th, 2014. She will also be on a mini world tour this summer to promote her debut pop album, ‘Louder’.
Interesting fact: She was in a car accident en route to her Glee audition, which resulted in her performing her audition while shards of glass from the wreckage were still stuck in her hair.
Best quote: “I do have 14 tattoos, but I also come home every single night and watch reality TV with my cat”. – Talking about her Grandma-like lifestyle.
Why we love her: It’s not difficult to rally behind this beautiful woman, last summer she lost her boyfriend, Cory Monteith, in a tragic drug overdose. Since then, she has been the epitome of fortitude and strength as she’s spoken with the media regularly, continued her work on the hit show Glee, as well as finished work on her debut pop album, ‘Louder’. While most people would lock themselves away from the world and grieve in the shadows, Lea Michele has thrust herself into career multitasking, as well as the heat of the spotlight. She is set to release her first book, Brunette Ambition, this coming May, which is a part memoir and part how-to book. Also, her debut album landed at number one on the charts in 11 countries – how could you not crush on this woman?
On top of her great style, radiant energy, and beautiful looks, she also hosts an arsenal of prodigy esque talent. Born in The Bronx, New York, Lea Michelle grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey. At the age of eight, she auditioned and landed her first role on Broadway – as a replacement in the role of Young Cosette in Les Miserables. Ironically enough, this is where she first introduced her stage name of “Lea Michele” because she was embarrassed by her last name. She then continued to perform regularly on Broadway for the next 13 years while she went through school, with her most acclaimed role as one of the awakening teens in 2006/2007’s Tony-winning musical version of Spring Awakening. From there, Hollywood came calling and she landed her first TV role as the high-strung, hyper-ambitious high-schooler, Rachel Barry on the Fox television series Glee. In the show’s five seasons thus far, she has definitely emerged as the standout breakout star and is about to embark on her next chapter, as the show starts filming it’s sixth, and final season, later this year.
We love Lea Michele for a lot of reasons. She’s diversely talented (singer, songwriter, actor, writer, dancer), beautiful, and is a definite pillar of strength for young women to model themselves after. There’s no denying that she will be dominating the radio, stage, and screen in spectacular fashion as her star status continues to rise.
