He’s back! Netflix has released the first trailer for Adam Sandler’s highly anticipated Happy Gilmore sequel, which hits the streamer this summer. Kyle Newacheck directs the sequel from a script by Tim Herlihy and Sandler.
Dennis Dugan directed the original Happy Gilmore film, which came out in theatres in back in 1996. That movie follows an unsuccessful ice hockey player who discovers he has a talent for golf. Happy starts competing in golf tournaments to gather enough money to stop the foreclosure of his grandmother’s house. Universal Pictures released the film, directed by Dennis Dugan, which grossed over $82 million worldwide and still holds a cult following.
The just-released trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 opens with Happy Gilmore expressing disgust at a bust of his head, which sits alongside those of real golfers like Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods.
“What is that?” he asks. “What’s with the beaver teeth?”
The rest of the trailer teases the sequel’s star-studded cast, including Bad Bunny, who is seen breaking a golf club over his knee. Ben Stiller is shown reprising his role of Hal, and Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen pop up as Gilmore’s golf nemesis Shooter McGavin and former PGA Tour publicist Virginia Venit, respectively.
Blake Clark also makes a cameo in the Happy Gilmore 2 trailer in a shirtless moment echoing his role as Farmer Fran in Sandler’s 1998 comedy The Waterboy.
Netflix will release Happy Gilmore 2 on Friday, July 25, 2025. Check out the just-released trailer below.
