NBC’s Seinfeld is one of the most loved sitcoms ever. Really, given that the Jerry Seinfeld helmed show holds the number-27 spot on IMDb’s list of highest-rated TV shows, it’s safe to say that it is one of the most loved shows ever—of any genre.
But alas, the show’s historic run came to a close on May 14, 1998, and even after all these years, the hole its finale carved into our hearts remains unfilled.
Several people have tried to fill the Seinfeld void of the 21st century. The Twitter account Modern Seinfeld, for example, has taken a hilarious look at what the show’s protagonists might deal with in an era of smart phones, online dating, and internet porn. Unfortunately, however, an official Seinfeld reunion episode is something that may always elude us—a reality that stings even more in light of the similarly iconic sitcom Friends being given something of a reunion episode earlier this month.
Thankfully, however, it’s not all bad news for Seinfeld lovers, as an applause worthy Seinfeld reunion episode has been edited together by a nostalgic fan—well, not just any fan. This Seinfeld tribute was assembled by none other than Topher Grace, the actor behind Eric Forman on another hit sitcom, That 70’s Show.
Grace, who shared the 9-and-a-half minute video on Facebook, explained the project as follows:
“I edited all the Seinfeld scenes from Curb season 7 into one episode. It’s more like a radio play, but if you sew together all the dialogue from audition scenes, read-throughs and rehearsals together… a 9-minute hint at what the plot of a reunion might have been.”

To clarify, this video relied on footage from the hit HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm, which stars Seinfeld co-creator Larry David. The show’s 7th season is based on David’s agreeing to do a Seinfeld reunion, which meant that Seinfeld and his co-stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine Benes), Jason Alexander (George Constanza) and Michael Richards (Cosmo Kramer) all made appearances in the season and even ran through a mock script. Grace’s episode then, assembled clips of the cast’s read-throughs and rehearsals, as well as auditions by other actors, and inserted them over footage and stills from previous episodes.
Does this fun project fill the void left by Seinfeld’s absence from our screens? Of course not. But as Grace suggests in his post, it gives us a sense as to what a Seinfeld reunion episode might be like, and that might be the best we ever get. Cue bass line, roll credits.
