If you fancy yourself a Daft Punk fan and happen to have an extra bit of cash laying around, you’re in for some pretty awesome news. Thanks to the folks over at Vintage & Analogue Occasion, you can now own a piece of music history. The tech collective is looking to sell a drum machine used by the famous French duo during the recording of their seminal debut album, Homework.
It’s a Roland TR-909 and quite incredibly, the gear is loaded with some of the group’s original presets. That means one lucky buyer will be able to delve into the authentic house sounds that helped to make Homework one of the most influential electronic albums of the 20th century. It’s an amazing haul for the hardcore Daft Punk lover, but it will likely and understandably cost a hefty sum. Despite the impending ransom, it’s a rare opportunity to own something that arguably belongs inside a music centre or museum.
Vintage & Analogue Occasion have not set the price for the historic piece, instead opting for a special online auction. Translated from the group’s Facebook page, they explain that “it’s a collector’s item, so it’s impossible to set a price. We will sell it to the highest bidder.” If this piece sounds up your alley, you still have some time to act, but you may have to compete with thousands of others fans.
