It’s no secret that Atlanta is one of our favourite new shows. We wrote about why it was must-see television before it even hit screens back in 2016 — thankfully for us, we were right on the money, because it proved to be an incredibly captivating and equally moving project. The cinematic program, which airs on FX, didn’t just win us over either, as its first season took home plenty of awards including two Golden Globes for Best Television (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actor for its creator, writer, and star, Donald Glover.
At this point, it’s pretty safe to assume that whatever Atlanta‘s mastermind touches will become a big success because Donald is a true Renaissance man. On top of his previously mentioned Globes, Glover is also fresh from multiple Grammy nominations, script assistance on Marvel’s upcoming smash, Black Panther, and a starring role in Solo: A Star Wars Story in which he plays a young Lando Calrissian. Now, and to cap that all off, Childish Gambino himself is set to unleash a new season of Atlanta onto the world.
Following several short teasers, fans of the show got a special treat earlier today in the form of a longer, more official trailer. According to recent production tidbits, the next batch of episodes will titled “Robbin’ Season”, which may point to a darker and grittier vibe this time around. You can check out the full trailer below via FX. Atlanta will return to screens on Thursday, March 1st.
