Jerry Seinfeld may be two decades removed from his groundbreaking titular sitcom, but the legendary comedian is still making waves in Hollywood. Along with producing and hosting the popular internet show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Seinfeld now divides his time with sold-out tours across North America. If you weren’t lucky enough to catch the stand-up god on tour these past few years, developers over at Netflix have got you covered.
As you may recall, the streaming service initially signed a deal with Jerry at the beginning of the year. The terms of the new agreement would see Comedians in Cars migrate over to Netflix, with new episodes also put into production. It was also established that Seinfeld would deliver brand new specials to the platform, with one arriving as early as this fall. Well, it looks like both parties are delivering on their promise, as earlier today it was announced that a new hour of comedy will be dropping this September. Titled, Before Seinfeld, the special features Jerry reading off some material that put him on the map.
The brand new special was taped at The Comic Strip in New York, where the star cut his chops in the 1980s before evolving into one of the most important comedians of his generation. Before Seinfeld will also come bolstered with archived footage and unearthed clips from his childhood. You can see some of the teasers below via Netflix’s Instagram account. Before Seinfeld will debut on the streaming service on September 19.
