Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 may still be a few months away, but fans are finally getting some official sneak peeks at the upcoming action blockbuster. This week, director James Gunn took to his Facebook account to share a live look at the recording process behind his movie’s orchestral score. During the behind-the-scenes footage, Gunn takes us to the iconic Abbey Road studios in Westminster, and introduces us to Tyler Bates. The American composer was responsible for the inescapable soundtrack of the first entry, and judging from the few minutes teased via Facebook, he’s going to keep his streak alive.
The special clip is about four minutes long, and previews a booming section of horns and strings. It’s hard to pin down just what scene this piece of music will accompany, but no doubt it will match the score’s grandeur. As the script itself has been kept under wraps, we can’t even begin to assume what scene we’re getting a preview of in this snippet. Noticeably absent from the recording session is any inclusion of classic 70s music. While not yet confirmed, we can assume that some vintage tuneage will find its way into the movie.
Moviegoers will want to mark May 5th on their calendars; that’s when highly anticipated sequel hits theatres. In the meantime, you can get lost in the epic score of one of the year’s biggest movies. Check out the Facebook Live video below.
