Be careful for what lurks in the dark, because a new Predator is making its debut later this year. That’s right, after a brief hiatus, 20th Century Fox is bringing the iconic movie monster back to the big screen. Aptly titled, The Predator, the flick will tell the story of a young boy who triggers the alien hunters and forces them to return back to earth. Thankfully, a team of highly skilled soldiers and scientists are on the case and work to stop the extraterrestrials before they wreak havoc on humankind.
This will be the fourth film in the series, and the first since 2010’s warmly received Predators, starring Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, and Laurence Fishbourne. Meanwhile, this year’s version will boast a stellar cast including Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), and Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones).
Sitting in the director’s chair is Shane Black, who has helmed films like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and most recently, the acclaimed action comedy The Nice Guys. Real Predator fans will also recall that Black had a significant role in the original 1987 edition of the saga. Given his strong ties to the franchise, it’s no surprise to see that Black co-wrote this latest instalment in the series with Fred Dekker — the latter penned screenplays for Star Trek and RoboCop just to name a few credits.
The Predator is out in theatres on September 14. You can check out the full Red Band trailer below via YouTube.
