Fans of Making a Murderer have been eagerly awaiting something to satisfy real-life crime cravings since binge-watching the Netflix series a few months ago. Now… after months of speculation, the good news has been officially confirmed: Making a Murderer is coming back for more.
Netflix announced Tuesday that the unprecedented Emmy-nominated series about Steven Avery is currently in production working on the “next chapter” of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey’s story. Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, who co-directed the series’ first season, will helm the new episodes.
“We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of, the series,” Ricciardi and Demos said in a press release. “The viewers’ interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold.”
Additional details, including a Netflix release date, have not yet been announced.
A new season of Making a Murderer isn’t the only thing that Ricciardi and Demos are working on. The two directors have another TV project in the works, a scripted drama produced by the one and only George Clooney. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series, titled America’s Most Admired Lawbreaker, will follow “the true story of a venerable pharmaceutical company that created a powerful drug and marketed it aggressively to children and the elderly while allegedly manipulating and hiding data about its side effects.” You can read more about it here.
