When Blade Runner‘s highly anticipated sequel was announced back in February of last year, fans had one serious concern: The iconic sci-fi needed do have its old star, Harrison Ford, return to the fold in some capacity. Having reprised both of his roles in Star Wars and Indiana Jones within the last decade, it seemed only natural that the 74-year-old would return to the famous neo-noir once again. Thankfully, director Denis Villeneuve and franchise creator Ridley Scott, seemed to have agreed, snagging the grizzled actor for Blade Runner 2049.

The new movie is out next year, and sees Ford link up with Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, and Robin Wright among others. Those involved have been quiet regarding major plot details, but we do know that the film follows a new investigator navigating his way through a dark and dystopian Los Angeles. Gosling’s character, Officer K, unearths an incendiary secret that threatens humanity, making the stakes very much high during the thriller’s runtime. We knew this much, but the extent of our knowledge ended here – save for the official logo unveil in October.

Today, we’re getting our first real glimpse of the film. Warner Bros. have released the first trailer for Blade Runner 2049, and it’s even better than we expected. The teaser’s two minutes do zip by in a flash, and there is little to pull from off the bat, however, what we do get in the trailer is confirmation. Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling join up at some point in the narrative, and the former’s presence looks to be more than just a cameo.

You can watch the trailer below, via Warner Bros’ YouTube account. Look out for the movie when it lands in theatres on October 6, 2017.
