Christopher Nolan has risen to become one of the strongest and most consistent Hollywood visionaries of our time. His legacy has been cemented through the franchise-invigorating Batman trilogy, his space epic, Interstellar, and his groundbreaking debut, Memento.
Now, after a brief hiatus, the director announces his return with, Dunkirk. The true story will follow the infamous, WWII evacuation of allied troops, which took place in the titular region of France. The moment was a huge victory for Britain and the US, saving hundreds of thousands of soldiers from the hail of Nazi ammunition.
Not much else is known about the film’s plot, but multiple sources have confirmed the growing list of castmates. All of Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, and Kenneth Branagh, are set to star. Also confirmed is former One Direction singer, Harry Styles, in his first big screen performance.
The film announcement is a small glimpse into what is sure to be another grandiose endeavour from the Inception director. The gorgeous framing is augmented by the IMAX and 65 millimetre film, which are being combined to create a wholly unique viewing experience.
You can watch the teaser for Dunkirk below, and expect it in theatres next year.
