Netflix Renews ‘Narcos’ For 2 More Seasons

Good news for fans of Netflix’s gritty original series, Narcos… The hit series will continue on for a third and fourth season.

Despite Pablo Escobar (Wagner de Moura) having met his fate in the season 2 finale, Netflix has announced that they have renewed the addictive drug trafficking drama for another two years.

Season 1 of Narcos tracked the rise of real-life cocaine kingpin Escobar in the 1970s and 1980s, while Season 2 looks at the 18 months leading up to his death in 1993. Neither Moura nor the producers have made any secret of Escobar’s impending death.

The show’s second season was unleashed to Netflix subscribers on Friday. The final scene — serious spoiler alert — suggested that DEA agent Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) was going to shift his attention to another Columbian gang, the Cali Cartel.

“This will be the end of Pablo Escobar. He will die this season,” says executive producer Eric Newman. “The show was never about Pablo Escobar. It was always about the drug war, and the drug war continues on. In fact, it continues on into the present.”

A short video announcing Seasons 3 and 4 of Narcos, which is filmed in Colombia, opens with the face of Escobar (Moura) and closes with that of Gilberto Rodriguez Orejuela (Damián Alcázar).
