Look, to say this year hasn’t been the most pleasant, is a hefty understatement. There were a ton of social injustices, political disasters, and celebrity deaths in 2016 – and we’re not about to relive them all here in this post. As the year begins to wind down, many of us gave up hope on witnessing something pleasantly salvageable. When the internet feels like the last place to turn to for good news, it blesses us with something so delightfully fluff, so inherently silly, that it leaves a big dumb smile on our face.
Well you guys, we’re excited to share with you perhaps the least important, most silly video on the internet. On Australian TV, a man named Daniel McConnell was interviewed after chasing down a suspect fleeing a nearby car crash. The whole thing is relatively short, but what it lacks in length, it makes up for in sheer Australianess – yes we’re making that a word. You can witness the entire thing below via Brisbane’s Today Show.

Naturally, social media had a field day, with some calling the event the “most Australian thing of all time”. While that might be a bold statement, we can’t ignore how amazing it is to hear a grown man say the phrase, “nothing but me jocks”. So from all of us here in 2016, we’d like to say thank you to the down under for giving us a much-needed, dumb smile.
