The artist known as Prince has died. He was 57.
TMZ is reporting that Prince’s body was discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early Thursday morning.
The award-winning musician — full name Prince Rogers Nelson — had a medical emergency on Friday April 15th that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois. However, Prince appeared at a concert the next day in Paisley Park near his Minnesota home to assure his fans he was okay. Multiple outlets reported that Prince was battling the flu.
Prince became an international superstar in 1982 when he released his debut album “1999.”
Prince sold more than 100 million records throughout his career, earning 7 Grammys. Back in 1985 he took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song Score for Purple Rain.
