The world of video streaming is about to get even larger… at least, that’s according to multiple industry experts. Earlier today, reports out of trusted media outlets like CNBC, 9to5Mac, and The Verge have all indicated that Apple is prepping to unveil its very own over-the-top media service.
It’s long been rumoured that the tech giant was developing a rival to Netflix and Amazon Prime, but thanks to a planned event at the end of the month, anticipation is now at an all time high. Earlier today, Apple executives announced that the brand will host a new launch event on March 25 at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California.
Of course, details of this upcoming product remain scarce, but experts are pointing to the service being bolstered with free original shows, as well as a package deal with Starz and Showtime. We may not have to wait that long either, as the untitled streaming hub could debut as early as next month. One predictable downside, however, is that this fresh addition to the Apple lineup will likely arrive without the incorporation of Netflix or Hulu.
To add even more fuel to the fire, Apple has been using the tagline “It’s Showtime” in the lead up to their March 25 event. You may recall that they also used this line when launching the Apple TV back in 2006. Check out the graphic below via The Verge, and be sure to tune into their live event to learn more about what they have in store.
