Ricky Gervais Apologizes In Advance For What He'll Say At The Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais has been known to ruffle more than a few feathers, but he also knows when to apologize. So the controversial comedian has offered up an apology in advance of his Golden Globe hosting duties next week, which have previously landed him in hot water.

Gervais posted a mock apology on Twitter, writing: “Because I can see the future, I’d like to [apologize] now for the things I said at next week’s Golden Globes. I was drunk & didn’t give a f–k.”

Gervais’ previous hosting stints garnered both controversy and acclaim for his no-holds-barred gags and jabs at celebrities

Gervais played Golden Globe host for three consecutive years from 2010, with his appearances garnering both controversy and acclaim for his no-holds-barred gags and jabs at celebs. He had vowed his appearance in 2012 would be his last. That was until his return to the stage was announced last October.

Gervais hasn’t really given any previews of what jokes Globe watchers can expect, but he told Ellen DeGeneres during an interview to be aired on her show on Wednesday that “They said I could say what i want again.”

The 73rd annual Golden Globes will air Sunday January 10 at 8:00pm ET on NBC.
