Director Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. surprised the audience at the San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend with some very big news at their Hall H panel presentation. In the sequel to Man of Steel, Henry Cavill’s Superman will be joined on-screen by Batman — the first time the two superheroes will be united on the big screen.
Cavill will return for the sequel, along with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, but the role of Batman – most recently played by Christian Bale – has yet to be cast.
Man of Steel has grossed more than $630 million worldwide. Production on the sequel is set to begin next year. The film is expected to be released in the summer of 2015.
