2019 is already shaping up to be a great year for big budget flicks. Along with some epic offerings like Star Wars, Avengers: Endgame, and It: Chapter Two, movie buffs will also get a smorgasbord of potential cult classics.
One of those possible favourites could arrive via the already beloved graphic novel character, Hellboy. The devilish antihero first came about in the early nineties, and provided a colourful contrast to other flashy do-gooders within the DC and Marvel universes. Due to its brutal gunplay, crude humour, and adult themes, Hellboy quickly became a popular alternative to the more vanilla stories previously being told in the comic book world.
Just a few years ago, Hellboy jumped off the pages and was given his first cinematic retelling courtesy of award winning auteur, Guillermo Del Toro. The 2004 film and its subsequent sequel, The Golden Army, were received well enough in theatres but truly gained momentum afterwards thanks to a fervent home video fanbase.
A decade later, lovers of the property will be treated once again to a Hellboy motion picture thanks to Lionsgate studios. Arriving next month is a brand new reboot starring Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, and David Harbour as the titular hero. The R-rated action will hit theatres on April 12 and you can check out the full trailer below via YouTube.
