Iconic contemporary artist Jeff Koons has teamed up with Dom Pérignon to create a limited-edition rosé package that is set to retail for $20,000 USD.
Koons was commissioned earlier this year to design limited-edition packaging for the luxury champagne label’s Vintage Rose 2003, which the company’s chef de cave Richard Geoffroy, tells WWD is “as bold, as provocative… as full bodied, intense, sensuous as can be.”
The prestigious new case is a bright pink two-foot tall polyurethane resin sculpture that opens from the front, safely concealing the bottle of Dom Pérignon inside. Of course, the elaborate small sculpture was inspired by Koons’ famous eight-plus-foot high Balloon Venus sculpture, which is part of the “Antiquity” series started by the artist in 2008 and strongly inspired by the 25,000-year-old Venus of Willendorf fertility totem.
The handcrafted Dom Pérignon Balloon Venus by Jeff Koons will be sold in limited quantities, with sales set to start Tuesday September 10th.
