As September approaches, you may feel like summer is over. But we are here to remind you that summer doesn’t officially end until September 23rd. Therefore, you still have almost a month of great weather to host friends on your patio (use that outdoor space as long as you can). So why not put together a little Mexican inspired get together with some great Mexican inspired cocktails?
And yes, you guessed it, these Mexican inspired cocktails are all made with tequila. Our go-to Mexican tequila is the heritage brand, Cazadores. The brand started with just one hard-working visionary in 1922 in the sun-kissed highlands of Jalisco, Mexico who spent years perfecting a tequila recipe for his friends and family. This is a tequila made by the people for the people. Salud!
Cazadores Cantarito Familiar
This just might be Mexico’s most famous cocktail; it is a go-to beverage for any occasion at any time of year. It is easy to make, but the trick is to serve it in clay vessels for a more authentic experience. It can be made family style in a large jug or container.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 bottles of Cazadores
- 25 oz Orange juice
- 10 oz Lime juice
- 25 oz Grapefruit jucie
- 48 oz Grapefruit soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
Garnish with Fresh lemon/lime
Method:
1. Combine Tequila, orange juice, lime juice, grapefruit juice, grapefruit soda, and salt
2. Pour over ice
Tequila Cazadores Sunrise
The Tequila Sunrise cocktail is a 1970s classic combining tequila, orange juice and grenadine. But why a sunrise? Due to the fact that it is served unmixed to preserve the colour of each layer, thus creating a sunrise effect in your glass. We love this Mexican inspired cocktail that riffs on the classic that features beer. It’s sweet, refreshing, and delicious, so mix one at your next patio hang.
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Tequila Cazadores Blanco
- 1 oz orange juice
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- Top with Corona Extra
- Bar Spoon of grenadine
Garnish: orange slice and cherry
Method:
1. Add tequila Cazadores Blanco and then the orange juice to a chilled highball glass filled
with ice.
2. Top with the grenadine, which will sink to the bottom of the glass, creating a layered effect.
3. Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.
Tequila Cazadores Mangoneada
A mangoneada in Mexico is a traditional beverage that doubles as a dessert, it’s based around mangoes with chamoy. It is sweet yet tart at the same time. We love this riff on the classic but with tequila. It won’t disappoint.

- 1 oz mango puree
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1/2 oz agave nectar

Rim glass with tajin using lime juice to moisten

1. In a cocktail shaker combine all the ingredients with ice & shake well.
2. Rim a glass with Chamoy and Tajin
3. Pour a drop of Chamoy in the bottom of a coupe glass and serve cocktail
in glass with optional mango slice for garnish.
Tequila Cazadores Cazajillo
A carajillo is a Spanish cocktail made with espresso and Liquor 43; we think it puts an espresso martini to shame. The drink is very popular in Mexico and can be served hot or cold. We think that this Mexican coffee cocktail is the perfect pick-me-up on a lazy summer afternoon. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Tequila Cazadores Añejo
- 1 oz Liquor 43
- 1 shot espresso
Garnish: dehydrated grapefruit wheel
Method:
1. Add Licor 43, Tequila Cazadores Añejo and espresso into a shaker with ice, shaking well
for 15-20 seconds.
