This past Saturday Roundhouse Park in Toronto played host to their inaugural outdoor beer-tasting event, The Roundhouse Winter Craft Beer Festival. The fest showcased a variety of limited edition, artisanal style draughts from Ontario Craft Brewers and hundreds of Torontonians braved the cold temperatures to grab a pint.
Here’s a round-up of five of our favourite microbreweries from The Roundhouse Winter Craft Beer Festival in Toronto.
Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery from Barrie Ontario set up shop outside Steam Whistle Brewing in Roundhouse Park to showcase their Smashbomb Atomic IPA. The ale boasts a heavy hop flavour, while offering a bitterness that will leave any beer connoisseur satisfied.
F&M Brewery has been brewing premium craft beers in Guelph, Ontario since 1995. Their most notable offering at Saturdays Winter Craft Beer Festival? The Stone Hammer Coffee Stout. This flavorful brew uses a single roast Café Femino that will leave stout lovers thirsty for more.
Rookie Ontario brewery to watch: Left Field Brewery hit a home run with their Maris Pale Ale. This up and coming microbrewery hopes to call Toronto its home in 2014.
A definite highlight from the Winter Craft Beer Festival was Thornbury’s Premium Apple Cider. This incredible cider brew, served with a pinch of cinnamon, made lining up in the frigid temperatures oh so worth it!
Toronto’s own Amsterdam Brewery has been filling our beer mugs since 1986. Their tasty Big Wheel amber brew is brewed with pale and crystal malts and is worth taking this wheel for a spin.
