This has been a year of incredible cinema, and with so many outstanding films and performances it is no surprise that we saw some serious snubs at the 2015 Oscar nomination ceremony in Los Angeles Thursday morning. David Oyelowo (Selma) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) were both shut out of the race for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Jennifer Aniston (Cake) and Amy Adams didn’t make an appearance on the Leading Actress nomination list, presumably being knocked out by Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night).
Another snub? The LEGO Movie being left off the Animated Featured Film list! However, the hit film did receive a nod for Best Original Song for its catchy “Everything Is Awesome.” The LEGO Movie director, Phil Lord, took to twitter in good spirits following the nominations to thank his team and let the world know that it’s okay.
Only 8 out of the possible 10 Best Picture slots were filled this year, which is surprising considering the number of outstanding films 2014 had to offer. Into The Woods, Foxcatcher, and Nightcrawler were all snubbed. The big night takes place Sunday February 22nd, at 7pm with Neil Patrick Harris as host.
