UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, has a had a whirlwind year. After becoming the first MMA fighter to hold two titles, the Irish superstar will now be taking his talents to the small screen. Rumours were swirling this week that the 28-year-old was offered a role in HBO’s hit show, Game of Thrones, but both parties still had their lips sealed. Now, in an interview with FOX Sports, UFC mastermind, Dana White, confirmed the news and even gave the fighter his blessing. “I’m glad he did it”, White says, “I knew that a few months ago that they were interested in putting him in the show”. The drama is currently in the middle of production for its next season, which by all accounts, will be its most epic yet.
There have yet to be any details regarding McGregor’s character, but we can only assume he’ll play some badass wildling, or an incredibly tough white walker. Scenes may have already been shot, whilst the MMA star remains busy with other ventures during his off time. Connor is currently setting his sights on the boxing ring, after obtaining a license in California, and even throwing shade at world champ, Floyd Mayweather. Even as 2016 comes to a close, it appears as though The Notorious isn’t planning to slow down.
