Lock’em Or Leave’em: Our Predictions For 2014 NFL Conference Championships

We got back to our winning ways last weekend, with both New England and Denver demolishing the opposition, which takes us to 22-9 on the season. Let’s finish strong and lock down some more loot!

Lock’em

As this article is being written, the posted total for The Patriots / Bronco’s game is at 56. Bettors, do yourself a favour now, and grab the OVER. Both of these offences are comfortable grabbing a helluva lotta points, and just as comfortable as both defences in allowing a helluva lotta points. New England’s Overall Scoring is third against vs Denver’s 22nd ranked Overall Defense. Conversely, Denver’s Overall Scoring (1st by a mile) vs New England’s Overall Defense (10th). Their last meeting in Foxborough was one of the wildest games of the season, with the Denver up 24-0 at the half, and Patriots coming back to win 34-31. On Sunday, we’re looking at a warm day (16 C) with clear skies. Bettors, everything here screams to take the OVER, which has cashed in 12 of the last 18 Denver games, and 6 of the last 7 New England games.

The Seattle / San Fran games calls for a total of 39 as of right now. Such a low number for a pos-season game…

HOWEVER:

  • The total has gone UNDER in 7 of San Francisco’s last 10 games.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of San Francisco’s last 6 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of San Francisco’s last 5 games when playing Seattle
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Seattle’s last 5 games at home
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Seattle’s last 5 games

Listen gamblers… with Kaepernick’s inability to put major points on the board in road games, and Wilson’s recent struggles in the pocket, as well as using his legs, expect a heavy defensive game. Grab the UNDER!

Leave’em

Unfortunately, besides the OVER, we’re not going to take a stand on the Patriots visiting the Bronco’s. The Bronco’s, with Manning at the helm, have had a record setting year. I see some of these acclamations holding for quite some time. The Patriots, on the other hand, have struggled dropping a few games to some really lacklustre teams. But Brady & Belichick can win when it counts and have won 5 of their last 6 against Denver. Looking at the two centre’s alone, Tom Brady has a 10-4 record when facing Peyton Manning. If I’ve got a knife to my throat, I’d say Patriots cover the spread, but I can’t… I won’t… touch this game!

Seattle is 2-5 in their last 7 games when playing San Francisco. However, at home, the Seahawks have won 4 of the last 5 against the 49’ers. This isn’t so much a coin-toss as a true battle of some really rugged players – and rightly so, expect a game with a lot of grit. In January, San Fran is 9-1, while Seattle is 5-5. Will the 49’ers make another Bowl appearance? Will Wilson end his post-season jitters? Again, if there’s a gun to my head, I’m taking the Seahawks to win, but my money will stay in my pocket.

Got a lock? Leave it in the comments below. Totally against our predictions? We’d love to hear from you! May you be among winners this weekend!
