With a line-up of fragrances that’s longer than his tape measure and include provocative names, like: Obsession, Contradiction, Crave, Eternity, Escape and Euphoria, it’s only fitting that Calvin Klein‘s latest scent is titled: Reveal. After all, we’d expect nothing less from the New York City-based designer who has been exposing us to his minimalistic sensibilities (read: a lot of good looking and half-naked people) for four and a half decades.
First, there was the bushy-browed and tousled-looking, 15-year-old Brooke Shields who asked the world if they wanted “to know what comes between me and my Calvins?” Her answer, of course, was: “nothing.” Then, in the early ’90s and wearing just their underwear—occasionally with jeans pulled over top—Mark Wahlberger grabbed his crotch while Kate Moss went topless (albeit with her arms folded across her chest) for the camera. And who can forget 2008, when Eva Mendes’ grainy, black and white, 30-second Secret Obsession commercial was considered too racy for television.
Reveal is the melting pot of this seductive past.
A combination of salt and spice, this eau de toilette blends exotic fruits, warm vanilla and sharp vetiver with crystallized ginger and pear brandy. The effect, once the signature ingredient, raw salt, is mixed in is enticing—and captured in a square, polished glass bottle with a metallic cap. And while supermodel Doutzen Kroes and British actor Charlie Hunnam are, sometimes, slightly more clothed than campaigns past, Calvin Klein hasn’t lost his uncompromisingly erotic touch.
Calvin Klein, Reveal comes in two sizes: 50 ml for $72 and 100 ml for $92. It’s available at the Hudson’s Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart, Sephora and Sears stores across Canada.
