Ralph Lauren, the all-American designer, is as equally renowned for his equestrian couture as he is for his masculine fragrances. Who didn’t wear Polo collared shirts and his woody smelling and same-named cologne in the late ’70s and ’80s, his denim shirts and elegantly subtle Romance for Men in the ’90s?
Now, his latest eau de toilette Polo Ultra Blue, launching this month is certain to be spritzed with the same loyalist abandon.
Fresh and sophisticated, Polo Blue embodies the lifestyle and sport of the brand with its energizing blend of citrus and crisp salt accord that conjures images of swift footed ponies cantering down the field. The scent is refined and masculine, starting with a citrus mosaic replete with cedrat lemon, bergamot and the molecule article. Herbal and tart basil verbena, sage and juniper enter he mix before being eased into a warm amber tonic, vibrant woody notes and a salty mineral accord. The overall effect is unique and aromatic with a long-lasting crisp sensation.
Bottled in the brand’s iconic glass flask, the design is familiar and sporty, fashionable and cool and ethereal and classic with its light blue colour and silver metal cap.
Ralph Lauren, Polo Ultra Blue EDT is $84 for 75 ml and $110 for 125 ml, available this March at Hudson’s Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart and Sephora stores across Canada.
