This month? We try out Henry Rose Dave eau de parfum…
We’re more than a little drawn to Henry Rose. And yes, our affinity to Scarface may have something to do with it. After all it was founded by Michelle Pfeiffer in her quest to create clean, transparent and safe luxury scents. She succeeded and Dave (along with the brand’s roster of other fragrances) is as EWG and Cradle to Cradle certified as it is exquisite, proving that high-end perfumery doesn’t have to sacrifice integrity.
A complex and modern gourmand, the scent opens with bright bergamot and spicy pink pepper to create a fresh, effervescent entrance. Then, the star note—Madagascar vanilla—emerges with its deep, rich and smoky vibes. There’s a warm, boozy quality to it, almost like bourbon, giving Dave a sophisticated edge. As the eau dries down, vetiver and cedarwood waft forward bringing an earthy, grounded contrast that keeps the vanilla from veering too sweet. A hint of amber adds a skin-like warmth, making the scent feel intimate and personal. It’s comforting yet confident, nostalgic yet modern—a scent that evolves with you throughout the day.
Captured in a heavy and sleek glass cylinder with smooth rounded sides and a matte black capper, Dave looks and feels as effortless, cool and undeniably sexy as it is. A gourmand like no other this is one we know we want to breathe in often.
Henry Rose Dave eau de parfum, $165 for 50 ml, available at Sephora and online at www.henryrose.com.
