Fragrance Of The Month: Maison Francis Kurkdjian 724 EDP

This month? We try out Maison Francis Kurkdjian 724 EDP…

Fluid, modern and fresh describe Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s new unisex fragrance 724, the eau de parfum its eponymous creator believes embodies the energy of New York City at daybreak.

“There is something about big cities that sweeps over you, electrifies you, elevates you,” Kurkdjian writes on the fragrance’s landing page on his website. “I translated that communicative energy; that life, pulsating in unison, into a fragrance.”

With opening notes of tart Calabrian bergamot and airy aldehydes, 724’s first spritz is both invigorating and clean. A sweet and delicate bouquet of sweet pea, Egyptian jasmine and mock orange flowers add clarity and brightness before being absorbed into a pool of warm sandalwood and intimate white musk. The overall effect is luminescent, chic and enveloping.

The scent’s effervescently airy, yet sleekly contemporary feel flows across its clear, solid bottle, featuring a crisp label trimmed in an urban blue hue, complete with matching box packaging. The colour is enduring and peaceful, purposeful in its symbolism of cement graphite grey skyscrapers and denim-clad masses. It is after all, like 724, the epitome of everyday city living.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian, 724 EDP, $355 for 70 ml, available Holt Renfrew.
