Nose Francis Kurkdjian knows what it takes to create a great scent. After all, he has mix-mastered more than 50 fragrances under his eponymous brand for the past 12 years and is the man behind Jean Paul Gautier’s sailor bottled scent Le Male Edition Collector, which has been on the world’s top 10 bestsellers list since its debut in 2014.
His latest creation, Aqua Celestia Cologne Forte is, simply put, citrus-based proof of his talent.
Stronger than a typical cologne yet more translucent than a parfum, Aqua Celestia first captures the senses with its fresh squeeze of tart Calabrian bergamot and juicy black currant. A sparkling and heady blend of mimosa and jasmine soon rush forward before being enveloped in a pool of cool and sensual musk. The overall effect is brisk and radiant with a feeling of calm serenity.
Carefree and breezy, this scent and its two counterparts Aqua Universalis and Aqua Vitae embrace the warmth and light of summer. As gender neutral in its composition as it is in its solid, square-shaped bottle, don’t be surprised if Aqua Celestia equally appeals to your partner. That was the French perfumer’s intention.
