This month? We try out MCM Diamond EDP…
For as long as we can remember diamonds have been associated with prestige and wealth, strength and resilience, and power and sophistication. Because the gems are also renowned for their rarity, purity and sparkling brilliance, in esoteric circles diamonds are rumoured to bring their wearers courage, fortitude and invincibility. Not a bad deal for something so small that originates in carbon.
Still, the clear stone’s meaning and rumoured beliefs combined makes perfect sense when it comes to MCM’s new and aptly named gender-fluid fragrance: Diamond Eau de Parfum.
Opulent and dazzling, the scent opens with notes of rich cappuccino and bright Italian bergamot and juniper. A smooth blend of tranquil lavender with juicy plum and intimate heliotrope soon wafts forward, adding layers of comfort and tenderness to the mix. Warm and woody notes of Santoud firbest, Brazilian tonka and Australian sandalwood complete the parfum, giving it depth, elegance and more than a touch of luxury. The overall effect is exquisite and bold.
“Diamond is a manifesto of modern luxury, bridging the gap between tradition and contemporary innovation,” affirms Jean Madar, the chairman and CEO of Inter Parfums Inc. Considered a symbol of eternal beauty, Diamond’s perfumer and the principal perfumer at DSM-Firmenich, Frank Voelkl, agrees. “Diamond is designed to embody power, versatility and a statement-making presence,” says Voelkl.
Captured in the German brand’s iconic backpack-shaped bottle, the eau’s composition is just as carefully crafted. It features 54 per cent biodegradable ingredients, 90 per cent of which were created using Green Chemistry molecules—all to reflect MCM’s commitment to sustainability and excellence. Which means that this diamond not only shines bright, but also for a long time.
MCM Diamond EDP, $116 for 50 ml, $149 for 75 ml, available online at ca.mcmworldwide.com.
