This month? We try out by Paco Rabanne Invictus Platinum EDP…
In 2013, Paco Rabanne launched the first Invictus fragrance for men. His vision was to create an unapologetically victorious, powerful and masculine scent. He was successful. Fast-forward eight years and while men still want to be victorious in sports, they now simultaneously crave a scent that exudes inclusion, confidence and acceptance.
Enter, Invictus Platinum eau de parfum, the new contemporary scent.
Inspired by athletic legends, who excel at their game, the Spanish designer’s latest fragrance is a combination of grit and energy. On first spritz, it smells refreshingly tart with notes of absinthe and grapefruit. An airy, aromatic and invigorating sensation soon takes over as notes of mint and lavender move the to the forefront, before a rich and spicy blend of cypress and patchouli ease the eau towards the finish line. The overall effect is earthy and addictive,
“I wanted to capture the addictive dimension of a resinous wood and imagine a metallic potion out of it,” describes Domitille Michalon-Bertier, the perfumer who believes, “we have to savour every moment of life’s delights.”
A philosophy the brand has been aligned with for decades and continues to strive for now, particularly since its future belongs to the fearless, inclusive of Invictus Platinum spokes model and legend-in-the-making Jalen Green. The 20-year-old pro basketball player was the 2nd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. After a season where he played with heart and left his sweat on the courts for the Houston Rockets, it’s easy to see why Paco Rabanne chose him. Talented, driven and courageous he is the embodiment of modern masculinity and the fragrance.
“I’m working to rewrite my goals, and my story, learning to be the best version of myself for myself,” says Green.
A version of himself that will, no doubt, lead to Green holding the legendary wings-emblazoned Invictus Platinum cup in one hand and many soon-to-be-achieved championship trophies in the other. After all, Paco Rabanne is greatness.
Paco Rabanne Invictus Platinum EDP, $95 for 50 ml and $125 for 100ml, available at Hudson’s Bay.
