This month? We try out Solinotes Matcha Tea EDP…
The brightly powdered green matcha has been used in tea ceremonies in Japan for years, a preferred beverage revered for its ability to bring people together and to create a sense of tranquility and harmony. In Canada, it’s also a favourite in drinks like smoothies, hot chocolate and lattes, courtesy of it mellow flavour and aroma, so it makes sense that it is being infused into perfumes like Solinotes’ Matcha Tea EDP.
Warm and soothing, this gender-free eau opens with bright and zesty notes of citron and bergamot mixed with spicy cardamom. Matcha’s fresh, sweet and grassy notes soon come forward intertwined with warm cashmere wood and sultry rose. An intimate base of musk, sandalwood and white amber complete the scent giving it a grounded appeal. The overall effect is enticing and clean, soft and nuanced, sparkling and uplifting.
Believed to have esoteric properties that can rebalance our emotions, evoke feelings of happiness and serenity and offer relaxing comfort, the matcha tea note, much like its steaming counterpart of the ever green brew, can be spritzed and enjoyed for its Zen-like sensation. Captured in a clear glass cylinder, with vert type, the fragrance creates a simple presence that’s as aesthetically pleasing as it is sensually satisfying.
Solinotes Matcha Tea EDP, $28 for 50 ml, available at Shoppers Drug Mart.
