Givenchy’s creative director, Riccardo Tisci has collaborated with Nike on an exclusive sneaker project.
Tisci told Style.com, “For me, Nike represents a lot: my childhood, America.” The designer of Givenchy has worn his favorite style of Nike kicks for the last 16 years, so when the opportunity presented itself, he was quick to jump on board.
“When I got the call, it sounded so strong, so perfect for my DNA. It’s a big honor for me, especially because they’re always working with sports people,” he said.
As for what the famed designer brought to the footwear (and possibly apparel) collaboration, Tisci said, “I couldn’t bring them technology, instead I brought my style, what people like me for and what the young generation follows me for.” No images are out yet, but Tisci describes the designs as “strong without being loud.”
The Nike + Riccardo Tisci partnership, which will bear the logo NIKE RT, will arrive in stores and on Nike.com this spring.
