Japanese fashion giant, Comme des Garçons, has been steadily strengthening its sneaker image. The company has already launched its successful PLAY series, which gave way to the popular CDG-branded, Converse Chuck Taylors. Now Nike links up with Comme des Garçons for the new, VaporMax trainers. In an Instagram post sent out yesterday, the launch of the new kicks were slated for a February 2017 release.
The VaporMax was teased earlier this year at CDG’s Paris runway show. Now fans of the model are getting their first detailed look at the shoe. The modern aesthetic of the VaporMax is strengthened by a rubber sole, which Nike describes as giving the appearance of “walking on air”. Meanwhile, the breathable flyknit mesh, emphasizes the athleisure design. The connection isn’t the first for the two brands, as the pair have released multiple jackets, hi-top sneakers, and jerseys.
