The annual Academy Awards ceremony is not only the biggest night of the year for film, it has become the biggest night of the year for fashion. Of course, the 91st annual Academy Awards festivities were filled with glamorous gowns… But, what about the guys?
Don’t worry we’ve got you covered. Here’s a look at 7 gents who hit the 2019 Oscar red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood in style.
Rami Malek
This is how a timeless tux is done. Rami Malek wore a custom three-piece Saint Laurent tuxedo by Anthony Vaccarello to pick up his best actor award for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody. Malek paired his winning look with black patent Christian Louboutin shoes and a Cartier watch and cufflinks.
Stephan James
Stephan James stole the red carpet wearing a three-piece Etro tuxedo in fiery red velvet with a contrasting satin lapel and trim. His white dress shirt and white Giuseppe Zanotti boots gave the look serious pop, while the diamond brooch was the perfect in-your-face finishing touch.
Mark Ronson
Mark Ronson rocked the Oscar red carpet wearing a bespoke black Maison Lance by Kyosuke Kunimoto tuxedo with vintage silk piping and a velvet shawl collar and cuffs. The songwriter and producer finished things off with an oversized velvet bow tie, Chopard cuff links and black patent Roger Vivier tuxedo slippers.
Michael B. Jordan
Michael B. Jordan walked the 2019 Oscar red carpet on-trend with his navy velvet Tom Ford cocktail jacket. The Black Panther star complimented the jacket with a white evening shirt, a classic black bow tie, cummerbund and “cocktail pants” with grosgrain side detail. Styled by Ade Samuel, he accessorized with a white gold and black onyx stud and cufflink set and lace-up Gianni evening shoes, also by Tom Ford.
Jason Momoa
Jason Momoa walked the 2019 Oscar red carpet rocking a blush pink velvet Fendi haute couture tuxedo that featured a chocolate brown silk lapel and pant stripe. Fendi also crafted a matching pink velvet hair scrunchie because according to his stylist, Jason “always wants to put his hair back Jeanne Yang, Jason “always wants to put his hair back.”
Chris Evans
Chris Evans was another actor who embraced the velvet menswear trend. Of course, the actor couldn’t have looked better wearing this Salvatore Ferragamo look, complete with aqua blue velvet tux jacket. Seriously suave.
Billy Porter
Billy Porter made his grand entrance wearing an all-black, one-of-a-kind design by Christian Siriano that featured a bow tie, ruffle-cuff white shirt, a classic tuxedo jacket and a full-skirted black gown.
Speaking with Vogue magazine before he walked the red carpet, the Pose star said Siriano wanted to play with the masculine and the feminine.
“This look was interesting because it’s not drag. I’m not a drag queen, I’m a man in a dress,” he told Vogue.
“People are going to be really uncomfortable with my black a** in a ball gown — but it’s not anybody’s business but mine,” he said.
