Timothée Chalamet was mellow yellow on the red carpet at the 97th annual Academy Awards on Sunday evening. Chalamet wore a custom monochromatic butter yellow Givenchy suit designed by Sarah Burton that featured a double-breasted cropped jacket with a notch lapel that was paired with leather pants and a silk shirt. A best actor nominee for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown, Chalamet, has nonchalantly been making the most dramatic red carpet menswear looks this awards season.
The butter yellow suit that Chalamet wore to the 2025 Oscars marks Burton’s first custom menswear moment at the French fashion house. Burton was officially named Givenchy‘s new creative director in September 2024 after making a name for herself at Alexander McQueen.
“Love that suit,” Conan O’Brien said to Chalamet during his opening monologue. “You will not get hit on your bike tonight.”
Love it or hate it, butter yellow has been a huge runway trend throughout the last few seasons, so Chalamet clearly has his finger on the fashion pulse. Plus, his custom butter yellow Givenchy suit will be remembered for years to come.
Chalamet is nominated for Best Actor tonight. Fellow nominees include Adrian Brody (for The Brutalist), Colman Domingo (for Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (for Conclave), and Sebastian Stan (for The Apprentice).
